escape over the seas.

I know it's just a few hours away from this busy little country but it made a huge difference to me just being there among my cousins. It's a sense of familiarity to the place that draws me back each time with a feeling of being at home. The town in all is probably smaller than Singapore but it's not the place. It's the people. Granted I would never want to live there permanently but it's my holiday escape from the craziness that this country brings.

In Singapore, it's all about the hustle and bustle of the cars and trains. The people walking about quickly with their sorry heads faced towards the ground, where the shopkeepers rush you to pay up for your items because they have to tend to the next customer behind you; AND if you hold up the queue looking for change you can damn well be sure you'd get a sigh, a frown or a grunt from them.

We sat at the coffee shop just chit chatting about nothing in particular and the above shot reminds me of such simple times that we neglect very much in our daily lives here. Most of my friends are busy working until odd hours that we barely have time to have a cup of coffee together any more.

The river flows through the city centre just like the Singapore river flows but here, the comfortably quiet waters crashes silently against the old buildings untouched in years and you know years later, it would probably look the same with few changes. The river that flows through Singapore.... it meets new buildings, lights and upgrades every other year and if they could redirect the water to make way for new shopping malls or restaurants,

they actually might.

Singapore changes every 5 minutes.

How can I call this place home when there's nothing familiar and the unrecognisable buildings cloud my childhood memories of the country I once loved?
