i spent the Chinese new year with jon's family. Interestingly enough, I think I've learn enough...i appreciate the Chinese culture but i do enjoy just simply being me, mix and just different. My family have great gatherings but we don't have to toss noodles and exclaim happy stuff over a huge plate in a round table. we don't eat unknown dishes all using individual chopsticks to pick (we've serving spoons) and lastly we eat everything at the same time we don't wait 10minutes for the next dish to come and we definitely eat the noodles or rice first not last.
O but i did have fun. I loved the festive snacks on the coffee table like the tarts and peanuts and i loved having to meet different people and get to know them. I actually enjoyed playing mahjong and have learn to identify 1-8 in chinese writing.
it's funny but it makes me miss all those huge gatherings we use to have at my grandma's when i was little.. now we only do it at christmas.
people grow old and things change along the way as we grow... the only thing that remains however is family.
